Weekly Travel Theme – Oceans……… of Rain and most of it is falling on Melbourne!

Once again I’m trapped inside whilst it pours with rain outside.  Oceans of the stuff has been falling out of the sky over the past few months – so much so that the sea levels must have dipped significantly.  Australia being the vast land that is has taken advantage of this glut of water and reinvented itself as a verdant land (well Melbourne anyway!).    For the first time in 7 years I have had to go the the laundrette to  dry my clothes, taking me back to times past when I lived in England spending convivial  time in the company of fellow tumble dryers at the pub  waiting for the cycle to finish.   Gone, so I thought,  were the days of wet clothes steaming gently on house radiators creating a moist atmosphere that one could almost sauna in.  Not so apparently.  Ah well at least it has given me time to finally write a little blog on my soggy situation!

  1. I am always somewhat wary of lamenting the rain anywhere in the south of this great continent. It wasn’t too long ago we were scanning the skies hoping for a drop! A balance somewhere in between would be nice :-)

  2. Absolutely wonderful pictures, I love the textures and light. We always cherish the rain when we get it here, we normally spend our summer months praying for the stuff.

  3. Absolutely brilliant photos – love rain in photos – very difficult to catch. The photo with the single drop is my favorite today – and the yellow flower. Love anything in yellow – it brings the sun even on a grey day.

  4. Great pics – I needed that perspective after I just had to drive home in Sydney’s torrential rain…I can appreciate the beauty of your pics now that I’m actually out of the rain & nice and dry with a fresh pot of tea! :-)
