A Word A Week Challenge – Different

Having sent out the word, asked do we want another weekly challenge and received an enthusiastic response I am going to set a new challenge.

Once a week I will dip into my old English Oxford dictionary and pick a word on the page that it falls open at.  The challenge is to post a picture, poem, story – whatever the genre you like best to describe of what that word means to you.

Add a link back to my blog in your post so I know you are taking part and can post your link to the challenge page.  If you would like generate more interest to your post feel free to add your link into the comments section of my challenge post.   That way other people can check out your interpretation of the challenge.     In your tags include postaday/week and a word a week challenge.   I will try to post the new challenge every Monday.

A  Word a Week Challenge – Different

What does different mean to you?  Is it something completely opposed to the way you live? like a different culture for example.   Is it something  that is unique to you?  Something  special? something out of the ordinary? something bizzare? Is it something rare or uncommon?

So what is my different has to be when I travelled around Peru and went to the floating islands of Lake Titicaca.  The people wear traditional dress, live in traditional straw huts, have a culture that has endured in the modern world,  cook in traditional posts, fish and transport themselves around in amazing boats that I had never seen the like of before.

How a floating island is constructed.

Imagine trying to cook a family meal on this!

  7. Hi, loved your post and idea. Here is my idea of ‘different’-http://amaltaas.wordpress.com/2012/10/03/a-word-a-week-challenge-different/, not sure whether it’s suitable or not.

    • Hey Sue – you visited my post asking if I could leave a link on your original post so others could read it. Is this what you need (above)? Or is there something more I need to do that I’m not understanding? Please let me know! =)

      Thanks! Have a great day!!

      • I think probably confused you – It would be nice if you could put a link to my original post in your blog them people can find the challenge and read other posts by other people. Also put your link to your page on in comments section as n other people can click on it and read your post (you did this) but I can them copy the link and paste it into my challenge page as well. Sorri for the confusion. Sue
