A Word A Week Challenge – Different
Having sent out the word, asked do we want another weekly challenge and received an enthusiastic response I am going to set a new challenge.
Once a week I will dip into my old English Oxford dictionary and pick a word on the page that it falls open at. The challenge is to post a picture, poem, story – whatever the genre you like best to describe of what that word means to you.
Add a link back to my blog in your post so I know you are taking part and can post your link to the challenge page. If you would like generate more interest to your post feel free to add your link into the comments section of my challenge post. That way other people can check out your interpretation of the challenge. In your tags include postaday/week and a word a week challenge. I will try to post the new challenge every Monday.
A Word a Week Challenge – Different
What does different mean to you? Is it something completely opposed to the way you live? like a different culture for example. Is it something that is unique to you? Something special? something out of the ordinary? something bizzare? Is it something rare or uncommon?
So what is my different has to be when I travelled around Peru and went to the floating islands of Lake Titicaca. The people wear traditional dress, live in traditional straw huts, have a culture that has endured in the modern world, cook in traditional posts, fish and transport themselves around in amazing boats that I had never seen the like of before.
How a floating island is constructed.
Imagine trying to cook a family meal on this!
This week’s participants so far:- Please check them out they are wonderful

You are truly inspiring. God Bless.
Thank you – please join in the challange if you feel like it
I think that meal would be pretty tasty – in the open air, cooked in pots seasoned by countless previous meals. And just think, no food processing, no complicated steps, just throw the ingredients in and heat them up. But I’m being romantic. That’s what scenes like these do to us westerners who are starved for the earthy & unrefined. I will try to join in, once I’ve gotten past some work deadlines – great idea, thanks!
Photos are quite vibrant and soooooooo colorful. I almost need to wear shades to view them!
This is what you do best …. people, details … colors .. just adore your job. Top photo is mine – only mine!
I used to live in Puno near there. You’ve captured the people wonderfully!
