A Word A Week Photograph Challenge – Food
Once a week I will dip into my old English Oxford dictionary and pick a word on the page that it falls open at. The challenge is to post a photograph, poem, story – whatever the genre you like best to describe of what that word means to you.
Add a link back to my blog in your post so I know you are taking part and others can follow the link to your blog. If they wish to take part this will also lead them back to the challenge page. Include postaday and weekly photo challenge in your tags so other people can check your post out. I will try to post the new challenge every Monday.
A Word a Week Challenge – Food
Wow what can I say – I love food and drink. I consume TV cooking shows like nobody else. I love to cook – very theraputic. I love company and eating with my friends. I love to grow food – it tastes so much better and as many of you may know I have a passion for cake. But when I travel my passion for food comes to the fore – I love to try new things – apart from the duck feet and popcorn soup I had in Peru (the feet were a surprise) l If there was a receipe for travel some of these photos might sum it up.
Rice Field – Sumatra
A staple food
Fishing – Sumatra – Protein
The Big Cheeseburger 0 Hunchaco – Peru – just ridicuolous and carb packed
Sumatra – Fruit for vitamins -
Food offerings to the Gods – Bali – for peace and safe passage to all travellers.
Add Friends.
Food vendors for local Cuisine – Asia
Local Coffee for after the meal
Spices add the flavour
Markets for colour
Food is something that is close to our hearts – after all we need it to survive. What is your passion? A favourite recipe? A certain flavour? A food obsession? A dish that evokes particular memories? A travel experience (good or bad)? Share your photographs and/or stories with us

Lovely photos and great theme Sue.

Love the pictures, I think I will have to try and get to Hunchaco to try that big cheseburger, it looks yummy.
There were no chips with it though
Lovely colourful photos… a great post…

Classic topic. The 3rd shot in this post, my typical road-trip lunch (not dinosaurs! Though when I was a teen I might have been able to handle it): http://blog.mjfimages.com/2012/10/15/dinosaurs-of-utah/
Gorgeous photos. I’ve bought many a cookbook just for the food photos alone.
Great photos! Food feeds both the body and the soul and has so much meaning for all of us, evoking childhood memories and special life moments. Thanks for visiting my blog.
I love the close-up photo of the spices. Wonderful texture.
I am a little late in this fantastic train. Can I still post on this topic. I love food. It is one of the ways that I experience the world. I am currently traveling in Peru right now, and I have a post focused on food in the works. So I guess it was meant to be. However, I am leaving for Machu Picchu in the morning on the Inca trail and I will not have internet access until Tuesday.
This post is a great idea. Sometimes it helps to have a tangible catalyst for writing, I thank you in earnest for providing this.

Post away – the more the merrier
These are all lovely photographs, each talking about food in its own way.
I like your blog. I love how you introduced me to the food of different cultures. Blessings. Thanks for visiting my blog Life’s Little Surprises.
These are gorgeous, especially the Cambodian shots.
Thank you Elizabeth
This is my new food addiction: http://mnmanuscript.com/2012/10/19/sinful-saffron-and-sichuan-peppercorn-sauce/
Yum! Love the pics by the way!
What an interesting idea. I love the colors in the open market.
I need to go to Peru for that ginormous burger! Sign me up!!!
Thanks for dropping by my blog again. I’ve got a nice photo of the food I made from the fruit that was blown off the trees where I’ve been house sitting. I’ll enter the Word a Week – Food with it. How do I put a link to your blog in mine? I’m new to this.
Hmm thats a hard one – I’ve been doing this for a few months now and I still get stuck – normally I copy the URL and past it into the post – but I think you can link it – suggest you look at one of the posts on food from other bloggers, copy their link and paste it into your post – then I will get a pingback letting me know that you are taking part – good luck
I really loved these photos, they weren’t just the standard pictures of food that I’ve grown to expect – they were vivid, cultural images. Really great
I finally found time to post my food post.. Sammymannattee- they are mostly just standard photos of food. The amount and randomness is a commentary on how exciting and crazy food adventures can be abroad.
