As many of you know once a week I dip into my Old English Dictionary and pick a word that the page falls open on. The challenge is to post a blog on what that word means to you. Most people take a photograph but if you want to write a short story or poem we welcome any genre. Please link back to this post in your blog so others can follow the thread and take part or read other entries. If you would like to take part on a regular basis hit the follow key and an email will be sent out to you each week with the new word of the week. I like to share your entries with the wider community so if you would like me to do this add the tag ‘A Word A Week Photo Challenge’ to your tags section and I will reblogg a few of your entries entries each week. Look forward to seeing your ISLAND posts.

I love islands, especially the ones on lakes …. Here is one of my favourites.
Beautiful place
The photos are all there now and they are so vibrant. I will have difficulty with this one. Though I guess Australia is an Island….
All so beautiful! Have a fun trip!

Your gallery of islands is absolutely stunning! And it made me sigh in that “Oh, lucky her…” way, reading you’ve so many photos to chose from. This was a tough one for me since…no, not too many islands floating in my files. Unfortunately.
This is what I came up with: http://esengasvoice.wordpress.com/2013/02/02/a-word-a-week-photo-challenge-island/
PS: Have a great trip!
Boy, you DO get around, don’t you! Nice post
need to think about this one. Have a great trip
I just love that photo of Bali…

While I enjoyed a brief time in Thailand, I spent a month in Vietnam. That month went by too fast but I enjoyed every minute!
These are all so great–they make me want to venture out of the US a bit more. Love that one with lanterns from Vietnam.

Sue — You had me at the Similan Islands’ photo. Great shot, and the others weren’t too shabby either
It’s even more amazing to have traveled to all the islands in your photos! I have yet to travel to an island and have no photos for this challenge, but I can not wait to see everyone else’s! Love island photos!

As I live most of the year on an island, albeit not a tropical one, I really could relate to these beautiful photographs. My home in the English Channel is photographed in my blog. Thanks for visiting.
Gorgeous!!!
All gorgeous images…totally making me want to travel!! And reminds me of some places I’ve been like the Philippine Islands with the outrigger banca boats! Loved it there.
I need to travel more in the Philippines
Awesome pictures!
thanks Janice
these pictures are all so beautiful!
thank you
The three boys in Flores reminded me of how idyllic that island is.
speechless!
These are beautiful, make me feel like I’m there. Oddly, as much as I live for the sea, I most love the shot of the river running through the middle of the island. Thank you so much for sharing, and also for viewing my blog.
thank you for visiting Elizabeth and your kind comments
These are beautiful!
thank you
Your photos are better than a travel brochure…makes me want to be there! I love the colorful boats!
